JMac & Paul soak up the sun in Cabo

When playing the #38 course in the world, it is less about conquering than simply surviving.  That is what JMac and Paul did while enjoying sweeping views of the Pacific in beautiful, but windy Cabo weather.  The boys also played two rounds on Tiger Wood’s first course, El Cardonal, which opened last fall.

The first day was rough for Paul as it was his first round in almost a year due to surgery on his neck (similar to JMac’s neck surgery a few years ago) and on his wrist.  He is 100% healthy, but his game was rusty allowing JMac to take a commanding $40 lead into 18 on the famed Dunes course and double that when Paul found trouble trying to cut the corner on 18.

The second day, the first time for both of on El Cardonal, was much tighter as Paul found his groove.  JMac was up 25 on a strong back nine run and was sitting pretty having reached the par 5 18th in two (downhill/downwind).  His tap in birdie after sliding the eagle putt by from 30 feet was looking good until Paul drained his own 30 footer for birdie.

The final day was another on El Cardonal which again featured another back nine run by JMac giving him a $45 lead going into 18 where he got in trouble off the tee and had to scramble to make bogie, but with Paul sitting 10 feet away for birdie, it looking like the days’ winnings would all be for naught.  Until Paul managed to three jack for a bogey tie!

Of course, all of our play was severely hampered by the free beer, margaritas and other potent libations served on all three courses, which made hunting in the dunes and desert for our balls much more tolerable!
